140th anniversary at Odense Aafart

For 140 years Odense Aafart has faithfully ’sejlet op ad Åen‘ with happy guests of all ages, and Odense Aafart has become an iconic part of Odense's cultural heritage. For years, generations of guests have taken their children and grandchildren on an unforgettable experience with Odense Aafart, and hopefully this will continue for many generations to come.

To celebrate Odense Aafart's 140th anniversary, the 2022 season opened and closed with delicious discounts for all guests.

Odense Aafart was established in 1882 and originally transported ‘the rich and famous’ from Munke Mose to Fruens Bøge. Today, Odense Aafart is everyman's journey, embracing everything from family Sunday trips on the river, wine tasting and music events to Mystery Tours teambuilding for companies.

Despite its current success, Odense Aafart has had to overcome many challenges. Everything from the competition of the language trolley in 1911, the consequences of World War II in the 1940s, the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and stolen canoes in 2022. Odense Aafart has met these challenges with great courage, and this has created a stronger community in Odense.

Aafarten's strong will and drive was recognised during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 by Ugeavisen Odense, which won after the popular vote Corona Fighter of the Year to Best of Odense 2020.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you. As everyone has said, it has been a strange, strange year and we have not given up. We have fought. It's strange to stand here alone. Morten, we have fought together, and we have made it‘ said Eva Pasgaard when receiving the award - where this year the winners were only allowed one person on stage.

Odense Aafart's long-term success is due to its employees' amazing ability to evolve and adapt to current circumstances. In addition to sailing trips, in recent years this has resulted in innovative concepts such as teambuilding activities with Mystery Tours, child-friendly puzzle hunt with Theodor's Secret Golden Treasure, the launch of the long-awaited annual pass and the development of an app for indoor team building activities.

Odense Aafart offers plenty of experiences all year round, and new concepts are constantly being developed to create the best experiences for guests.
